The controls for the game is good on keyboard and 360 controller. There is also a good set up of having a "compolex reload" and a "simple reload" The story is good and has a good twist.. I get what this game is trying to do and I felt that it had a good thing going when I went in. I adored many flash games, especially those with stickman-violence involved when I was younger. Playing this game for about 11 minutes ruined that nostalgia as the controls were janky and it feels like a flash game ripped straight from a free-to-play website.I am sure there is something here for someone (and the game itself is very cheap) but despite those thoughts, I just simply cannot recommend that game over the majority of all the other games I have currently.. Plays like a terrible mid 2000s flash game; heck it is a mid 2000s flashgame, just with controller support tacked on.Would not recommend.. A really crappily ported Flashgame. Breath of fresh air in the shoot 'em up category. I would consider this game is a puzzle shooter, kind of like Portal meets GTA meets a Super Mario side scroller. I particualrly like the gun mechanics, which take a while to get used to but add a level of realism lost on modern games. It also harkens back to the days of the NES and SNES... if you die, you start over. there is not autosave every 5 seconds, so prepare to run levels over and over until you get it right!. Ballistick is taking those flash games/animations we all use to watch years ago and bringing them back for a whole new style of fun! This game had me laughing from the opening cutscenes to the dialog in the mission prep which is a nice bonus and didn't expect. Reminds me a lot of PAYDAY, seeing what are your options from gaurds, objectives, entry points and ways to manuever around the level. At first the gun mechanics feel weird like why press 3-4 buttons to reload. But after doing it a few times and playing with it for the first few levels, its actually fun style of gaming. The pump shotgun, pressing left and right to♥♥♥♥♥♥the shotgun back every time you shoot is fun and makes you think and slow yourself instead of running through all the stick enemies. The game paces itself well with these gun mechanics and overall a nice system that works well. The beginning of the Ballistick is made really well, introducing the player to the three different styles of completing levels; stealth (silence pistol), tactical shoot em up (assault rifle), and balls out (pump shotgun). After the first levels of understanding each stlye, its up to you which style you want to play the of the levels. Overall Ballistick is fun and surprises you with the story, dialog, and gameplay.. Controls are clunky and the gameplay is uninteresting. The visual style doesn't really work here, unlike One Finger Death Punch.. Got it in the freedom bundle. It's basically a flash game that is no longer relevant in this day and age. Nostalgia can only take you so far. The best thing about it is the fact you can complete the game in under an hour. Gameplay feels like a chore and controls are clunky and frustrating. There's a story but you won't pay any attention to it. There's a fair few bugs, but nothing completely game breaking. Enemy AI is really basic. They'll walk right by you when you're using cover, and keep ignoring you while you shoot them in the back. I 100%d the game pretty quickly so can't say it has much/any replay value. I'd say most of my gametime was just letting the game idle for the steam cards. So in closing, it's basically vanilla ice cream made from super low fat skim milk powder. Sure it's basically edible and whatnot, but you'll spend more time questioning why you bought it in the first place as you choke down the terrible taste it leaves. There is clearly worse shovelware sold on steam than this game though, so I'll give the devs credit for at least putting something together that is playable. Unless you get it on super cheap special and can farm the cards for a profit, you're not missing anything. I've played it, so you don't have to.. My XBOX360 controller doesn't even work in the Linux port of the game. And this is funny because the game is made to be played with it. Furthermore, there is a splash screen before you get to the main menu that recommends you to play with it.... Sorry, but I really can't recommend. 2 bucks isn't much of a price tag, but controls are bad, AI is non-existent, sounds and visuals mediocre at best...I get the author tried to make a flash game, but even those had some charm to them. This is at best a decent first-time attempt at a video game. I gave it a chance...it didn't work. Sorry. :-(
